Helpers' Zone

Back to Marlow Lighthouse Homepage

Lighthouse is staffed purely by volunteers. There are many varied roles for which volunteers are needed. All areas - craft, sport, drama, teaching, mainstage, creche, refreshments, registration etc are organised by team teaders, each with a group of helpers. Team leaders are normally adults, aged 18+, but sports and drama, in particular, welcome young people (age 14+) to help.

A key role is played by Lighthouse Keepers, adults who take charge of a small group of children and ensure they all enjoy their time at Lighthouse. Lighthouse Keepers will stay with their group all day, taking them to the various activities and providing help and encouragement to those who need it. Our intention is to have one Lighthouse Keeper for every 10 children.

Ideally each Lighthouse will be led by one person for the whole week, but, if you can only do a couple of days, 'jobsharing' can be arranged.

Lighthouse Keepers are helped by teenagers known as 'Lamplighters', we would like to have enough volunteers for each group to be supported by two Lamplighters. Perhaps you have a friend who would like to help as well?

Helpers are needed in all areas, please download further details and a registration form from the 'Downloads' area and submit it to the Lighthouse team.

If you have any questions or would like to learn about other ways in which you could help during the Lighthouse week, or in the weeks leading up to it, please contact Sarah Jones by email: sarah.j.jones@gmail.com  or by telephone: 01628 475104 (evenings)
